014So on Friday (March 6th), my favourite band, Pure Reason Revolution (right) came to Norwich as part of their tour to promote their forthcoming album Amor Vincit Omnia.

….Omgomgomgomgomg it was awesome. Let’s get the setlist out of the way first before I forget it:

Les Malheurs
Apogee
Deus Ex Machina
The Bright Ambassadors of Morning
Victorious Cupid
The Twycyn/Trembling Willows
The Gloaming
AVO
—Encore—
Voices in Winter/In the Realms of the Divine
Arrival/The Intention Craft

…Referencing back to this post, when I saw them in November… the setlist was actually virtually the same. Except for no In Aurélia and Borgens Vor… both of which I’d put in my top 5 PRR songs BUT they did play AVO… so it’s swings and roundabouts really.

Before the gig I picked up 2 copies of AVO digipack edition, as they were giving away limited edition copies of the Deus Ex Machina single which is actually a download-only single and so only 25 were being given away per show, so I grabbed them whilst I could, downed some Pimms at the bar and to the stage area I went…

The first support band, My Visor, wasn’t to my taste at all. I heard their music before the show and frankly wasn’t looking forward to it, but granted they were better live, and they had a bloody good drummer. The second support band, The Lost Levels were much better. I’d consider seeing them again, definitely.

PRR then began to set up, and Ben (who came with me) embarassed me no end for reasons I won’t mention here, and then they were on their way, and played a cracking set! Considering they are a band plagued with hitches during live shows, their set was played flawlessly and the band seemed to be relaxed, very smily and looked genuinely happy to be playing (it’s because I was there, obviously).

I loved the show, and obxiously sang all the words, gyrated in a more than likely inappropriate manner and was basically far too over enthusiastic to be there. In fact, somebody approached me after the gig and was all “I saw you singing ALL the words… how can you know them all?!” I didn’t realise that I was that much of a loser for knowing them all, haha. Perhaps I can request a place as Chloe’s understudy, haha.

After the gig I bought myself a t-shirt and a poster (meaning I spent a grand total of £41 on merchandise that night) and as I was putting my merchandise in my bag… the band came out! So I thought I’ll make tonight even more special and get my mountain of merchandise signed!

015I spoke to Paul first, who, as usual was very nice and chatty, next Jamie signed my stuff, he was a guy of very few words but he had a blingin’ silver pen and people were wanting to chat to him, so I’ll let him off for that one. Next…. Jon…  he was more than happy to sign my stuff and whilst doing so I told him I loved the gig and was great having them in Norwich to which he thanked me and was very smiley, unfortunately I didn’t get to speak to him much more as loads of people, again understandably were wanting to chat with him as well. Finally, I waited patiently whilst people wrapped up chatting to Chloe and then she very graciously signed my stuff and was very warm and chatty.. and even remembered me (first and last name too!) from a previous encounter, which I was very impressed by! I kind of failed as I didn’t know what to say to any of them really apart from OMGZZZZ YOU’RE MAH FAVRITE BAND!!!!!!1111111111111111111 but they were lovely and this gig was by far superior to Cargo.

Best gig I’ve been to? I think so!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go learn the lyrics off by heart to Amor Vincit Omnia…

I feel lonely. More so than usual the past few days, but this isn’t anything unusual really. It comes and goes in waves. It’s just that the tide is… in. I think I need to think of a better description.

With that said, the house things are (touch wood) sorting themselves out and in theory, everything should be done and dusted by the end of this week, and then it’s a case of sorting through all of my stuff, packing up and moving out when we get the keys in July. The closer it gets, the more daunting it becomes.

Still, it’s not all frowns. I have PRR on Friday. Whilst I am excited, due to a lot of circumstances, I’m not as excited as I could be. But theres nothing I can do about that, and all I can ask for is to enjoy myself as much as I possibly can whilst being serenaded by a bloody brilliant band.

I have a really busy week this week; I plan to throw myself into my work, and also buy myself a notebook from Paperchase. Expensive, and probably not worth it, but it is, really.

My monitor is on the blink, and is becoming the epitome of my anger and frustration. My dad has finally recognised that it’s a bastard and will look into replacing it. I’m hoping I can get this monitor:

Mmmm, sexy.
